EVENT DETAILS

The 2019 NCBCA Coaches vs. Cancer Shootout is the 6th annual event on behalf of High School Basketball Coaches and high school student athletes from across the state of North Carolina. The North Carolina Basketball Coaches Association along with Coaches vs. Cancer and the American Cancer Society are teaming up to bring the excitement of the NCAA Coaches vs. Cancer games to the High School level. Our goal is simple “To Shoot Down Cancer”!

Last year’s event was a huge success. Thanks to the efforts of the 16 teams involved from across the state of North Carolina, the NCBCA was able make a donation of $40,000 to the American Cancer Society. The six year total donation from this event is $150,000! On Friday night of the banquet, many wonderful stories were shared by the coaches of their respective teams as they described their team’s chosen hero and their fight against cancer and how they raised money to honor their hero!

We look forward to this year’s event and reaching our goal of $50,000 which would bring our grand total to $200,000 in only 7 years! The Coaches vs. Cancer Shootout will be played on Saturday November 30th in Kimmel Arena on the campus of University of North Carolina Asheville with a banquet to proceed on Friday November 29that the Grand Ball Room of the Expo Center at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

The Event

The NCBCA/Coaches vs Cancer Shootout is a two day event unlike any other in High School Basketball any where in the country. We will bring sixteen of the best high school basketball teams from across the state of North Carolina to the Asheville area to showcase their talents. These teams are historically among the best this state has to offer. Many of these teams played in their respective state championships or regional finals last season. We will pair these teams up against each other creating unbelievable matchups and memories that will last a lifetime!

In addition to the basketball games, we will host a catered banquet and silent auction on Friday November 29th. At the banquet, each team will be recognized and asked to make a donation to the Coaches vs. Cancer Shootout on behalf of their respective programs and in honor of their chosen “Hero”. We will also recognize members from the American Cancer Society and our various sponsors. The NCBCA will recognize the 2018-2019 Coaches vs Cancer “Gary Bowne” Coach of the Year award winner. Tickets will be sold to the general public for both events with the goal to sell out each night. All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society for the fight against cancer.

In addition to Kimmel Arena, we are proud that our banquet held on Friday night will be co-sponsored by FCA and will be held at the beautiful Biltmore Baptist Church in the student center.

Attendees

The goal of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic is to bring some of the best talent from across the state to the Asheville Area.  The attendees for this event will also come from across the state as well; thereby your sponsorship dollars will touch attendees all across this state.  Kimmel Arena seats approximately 3500 people and our goal is to sell that venue out for the event.  Various local and state media outlets will be providing coverage of this event beginning with a kickoff Press conference at Kimmel Arena and continuing up until the event in November.
